week 2

Well, I have pretty much been quarantined in my dorm room-literally hardly saw a soul or the light of day for three days. Everyone's sick around here, so I'm not really surprised I picked something up. But it's been horrible: fever, chills, cough...and worst is that I missed out on some awesome events.

Tonight was formal dinner though so I'm glad I was feeling better, although I had to pass on the after party, which is going on right now. I just shouldn't be drinking so I decided to rest up for Foundation Day on Thursday.

Anyway, dinner tonight was nice. The theme was "Christmas in July" which was amusing. Pre-drinks were in the Goldstein quad and then everyone filed into the dining hall, which reminds me of the huge hall at Hogwarts. There were speeches, people in robes, free-flowing wine (which we realized was actually boxed wine, or goon, that they kept pouring into bottles to make it appear fancy...bastards), christmas pudding, and loads of debauchery as the night wore on. Out of the 6 of us Basser freshers sitting together, half of us were ill and half were completely smashed/falling asleep at the table, so it was a rather pathetic (but fantastic!) bunch. :D

It was quite hilarious being dead sober actually, considering many people had started drinking at the 5 o'clock happy hour at Unibar. By the end of dinner at 9, paper planes were soaring through the air (as marked in the below photo) and peas were being flicked across the tables. Awesome.
